Our Approach: Comprehensive, Sustainable, and Impactful ICT Education

Engaging Younger Learners

We introduce ICT concepts to 5,000 primary-level girls (ages 8–11) annually, fostering curiosity and providing early exposure to technology through supervised online engagement and interactive activities.

Certifying Secondary-Level Girls

Every year, 3,000 secondary school girls (ages 13–18) receive certification in coding, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. These programs are complemented by mentorship from ICT professionals.

Teacher Training

We will train 32 Master trainers and 150 staff trainers, equipping them with skills to provide ICT education across Ghana.

Infrastructure Development:

We upgrade 50 ICT hubs annually, ensuring they are equipped to provide safe and inclusive environments for girls to learn and innovate.
OUR STORY

Since its inception in 2017, the Girls in ICT Initiative has reached over 12,000 girls, with training and mentorship.

The Trust is designed based on lessons learned from a decade of work of the initiative to introduce girls to ICT in primary school, offering certifiable learning/training opportunities in secondary, and providing support and guidance to secure career opportunities in STEM in tertiary. It will create a network of girl/woman-friendly labs staffed by trained and fully resourced experts offering ICT access, subsidized or free certified training opportunities, and a team of manager trainers. Additionally, we will focus on promoting an enabling environment, working with corporate representatives, community leaders and gate-keepers, civil society and education resources to modify the narratives, opportunities, and frameworks to be more supportive of females in STEM.
